Building: The building in a dream usually points directly to a specific area of your life. Dreaming of being in an office complex, or factory can pertain to your working environment. It does not need to specifically pertain to your exact line of work. In other words, an office worker dreaming of a loading dock still can relate the dock to work, because that’s the association made in his mind. A bathroom, may pertain to your general health and hygiene habits, and a kitchen might be about your eating and nutrition. What you associate different locations to mean in general, usually points to what the dream was getting at specifically. To dream of your childhood house, tends to be a reflection of your life today though. A dream of mass chaos in your childhood home can indicate great disturbances in your life either now, or coming shortly. These kinds of dreams are often prophetic. You should always write down and deeply analyze dreams of your childhood dwelling. Dreams of great buildings like cathedrals and large churches usually indicate the dream has a great meaning, and should be taken seriously, as well as any applied association. Also: Buildings are almost always symbols of your personality and/or your physical body, and usually represent the various states of consciousness and awareness you inhabit at the time. Buildings are manmade constructions, symbolizing the framework of your beliefs, your attitudes, how you are thinking at the time of the dream or event, and your opinions caused by your beliefs. The type of building and where you are in the building will tell you how your subconscious is using this common symbol. Remember that everything in your dream is a symbol and that nothing is there just to fill in the picture. If you dream that your building has four walls and a roof, it is not just because most buildings you have experienced have these things. How are the walls and roof different from those you have experienced before? What size is the building? Of what type of material is it constructed? How safe do you feel in it in your dream: Why? What is the building being used for? Is this the same as its normal use? Who would own it? What kind of people would work or live there? Why? Where is it located? What type of furnishings does it have? How light or dark is it? How do you feel about it in your dream? How do you feel about it after you wake up? Would you like to go there when you are awake? Why, or why not? And, of course, what doe this particular building remind you of that is going on in your life at the time?Inside: When you are inside any building, you are often dealing with your internal feelings, thoughts, beliefs, and processes. Or it could be a message that you are inside the situation, a part of it, that you are not just on the outside looking in. How do you feel when you are inside of a building? How is it different from the way you feel when outside? Why? What does this remind you of? ~ If the dream takes place inside the building then solving the problem is in the dreamer's hands. Outside: When you are outside a building, you are often dealing with external influences and beliefs, beliefs or things imposed upon you by your culture or family and friends. Being outside can also be telling you that some part of you feels the subject of your dream or experience is beyond your control, outside your field of influence. And of course, being outside can show you deep unrecognized feelings of being an outsider. ~ If the dream takes place outside the building this means there are external influences having something to do with your problem. What overall condition is the house in? Have you ever lived in a house like it? When? At what age? What was going on in your life at that time that had an emotional impact on you? What kind of a person would like this house/ What kind of a person would avoid it? Why?Balcony or Veranda: Overview of your mind and/or life or situation. Basement or Cave Under the House: Relating to the hidden superconscious as in Back Yard. ~ Sub–conscious (below conscious awareness). ~ An issue upon which much rests, the foundation of a domestic area. That's usually the part of our Selves that makes us feel "torn" between knowing we should do one thing, but inexplicably ending up doing the opposite. Old belief patterns & fears have to be corrected, if that is the case. Tackle & overcome it, and you will feel much more peaceful about your life. Stairs: Going to a higher level—or lower depending on direction. ~ Direction in life. Condition, direction you are going. If up, right direction; down, wrong. ~ Hopes and status. Going up is positive. Heading to a positive level. ~ Hopes and status. Upstairs: Going up is positive. Heading to a positive level. Symbolizes your spiritual awareness aspect of Self, or the Higher Self that holds all the keys or knowledge to this life's role you are acting out, and always has your higher good looked after, no matter how it might seem otherwise.~When interpreting this dream, try to remember your feelings upon awakening. Going up and down the stairs could mean several different things. It could represent changes in consciousness, movement from one inner plane to another, or a change in understanding. A side window could be an awareness of past life memory relating to close relationships. Or being able to see something from a "new aspect"... or something that is not everday but is a "sidelight". Also: View of life outside the domestic or personal condition. If the window glass is clear and clean, your view of outside life is clear. If it is fogged, dirty, colored or cloudy, your view of the outside is unclear. If you are looking out of the window, you see things that are outside of home control. If you are looking into the window, you see how others view what is happening in the home.
Floor: Floors are specialized
foundations, places allowing you to stand safely, and usually in well-balanced
positions. So floors most often symbolize the ground you are standing
on, in other words your principles and beliefs. And the different
floors of a building frequently represent the level of consciousness
you are on in your dream. Floors are great puns. Is you floor falling
out from under you? Who or what is now taking the floor? Has something
just floored you? Which floor are you on? What covers it? Why? What
kind of building would have this type of floor? What does this remind
you of?
