SELF

Building: The building in a dream usually points directly to a specific area of your life. Dreaming of being in an office complex, or factory can pertain to your working environment. It does not need to specifically pertain to your exact line of work. In other words, an office worker dreaming of a loading dock still can relate the dock to work, because that’s the association made in his mind. A bathroom, may pertain to your general health and hygiene habits, and a kitchen might be about your eating and nutrition. What you associate different locations to mean in general, usually points to what the dream was getting at specifically. To dream of your childhood house, tends to be a reflection of your life today though. A dream of mass chaos in your childhood home can indicate great disturbances in your life either now, or coming shortly. These kinds of dreams are often prophetic. You should always write down and deeply analyze dreams of your childhood dwelling. Dreams of great buildings like cathedrals and large churches usually indicate the dream has a great meaning, and should be taken seriously, as well as any applied association.

Also: Buildings are almost always symbols of your personality and/or your physical body, and usually represent the various states of consciousness and awareness you inhabit at the time. Buildings are manmade constructions, symbolizing the framework of your beliefs, your attitudes, how you are thinking at the time of the dream or event, and your opinions caused by your beliefs. The type of building and where you are in the building will tell you how your subconscious is using this common symbol. Remember that everything in your dream is a symbol and that nothing is there just to fill in the picture. If you dream that your building has four walls and a roof, it is not just because most buildings you have experienced have these things. How are the walls and roof different from those you have experienced before? What size is the building? Of what type of material is it constructed? How safe do you feel in it in your dream: Why? What is the building being used for? Is this the same as its normal use? Who would own it? What kind of people would work or live there? Why? Where is it located? What type of furnishings does it have? How light or dark is it? How do you feel about it in your dream? How do you feel about it after you wake up? Would you like to go there when you are awake? Why, or why not? And, of course, what doe this particular building remind you of that is going on in your life at the time?
Inside: When you are inside any building, you are often dealing with your internal feelings, thoughts, beliefs, and processes. Or it could be a message that you are inside the situation, a part of it, that you are not just on the outside looking in. How do you feel when you are inside of a building? How is it different from the way you feel when outside? Why? What does this remind you of? ~ If the dream takes place inside the building then solving the problem is in the dreamer's hands.

Outside: When you are outside a building, you are often dealing with external influences and beliefs, beliefs or things imposed upon you by your culture or family and friends. Being outside can also be telling you that some part of you feels the subject of your dream or experience is beyond your control, outside your field of influence. And of course, being outside can show you deep unrecognized feelings of being an outsider. ~ If the dream takes place outside the building this means there are external influences having something to do with your problem.

House: Your mind and self...all levels of it. Also: Security and view of general life conditions.

Also: A house most often symbolizes the Self and/or your physical body. Houses are also symbols of Cosmic Order and the entire Cosmos with its many rooms and roles. What style of architecture is the house? What does this remind you of? Why? What overall condition is the house in? Have you ever lived in a house like it? When? At what age? What was going on in your life at that time that had an emotional impact on you? What kind of a person would like this house/ What kind of a person would avoid it? Why?

That's usually the part of our Selves that makes us feel "torn" between knowing we should do one thing, but inexplicably ending up doing the opposite. Symbolizes your spiritual awareness aspect of Self, or the Higher Self that holds all the keys or knowledge to this life's role you are acting out, and always has your higher good looked after, no matter how it might seem otherwise.~When interpreting this dream, try to remember your feelings upon awakening. Going up and down the stairs could mean several different things. It could represent changes in consciousness, movement from one inner plane to another, or a change in understanding. In a more material sense, it could represent a rise or fall in economic or social status and the general efforts that are required to accomplish life's small and large goals. Climbing may represent an achievement of your ambitions and a movement in a positive direction. Descending may symbolize your doubts or a period following hard work and achievement of a significant goal. Generally, dreaming of ascending a stairway connotes movement in a positive direction while descending is indicative of a down period or negative flow of ideas or actions. See also: Climbing.

Somtimes it represents sleep and meeting your unconscious--or torture because in bed we may be tortured by insomnia, worries, physical pain. Also our lives--you've made your bed now lie in it. Bed is an important symbol to understand as it often shows exactly what we are doing in the subtle areas of relationships. A side window could be an awareness of past life memory relating to close relationships. Or being able to see something from a "new aspect"... or something that is not everday but is a "sidelight".

Also: View of life outside the domestic or personal condition. If the window glass is clear and clean, your view of outside life is clear. If it is fogged, dirty, colored or cloudy, your view of the outside is unclear. If you are looking out of the window, you see things that are outside of home control. If you are looking into the window, you see how others view what is happening in the home.

Also: Seeing beyond the current situation.

Also: A window is a rich dream symbol. Its accurate interpretation can lead to awareness and a better understanding of a personal outlook on life. If you are looking through the window, pay close attention to what you are looking at. Is it a beautiful landscape or a scene dealing with an experience or a situation from your past? Looking through a window and seeing a beautiful landscape may represent your desire for greater satisfaction and more peace in your life. If you are seeing something familiar, you may be able to perceive the situation in a new way and gain some insight. Some say that a window may represent a time frame. A closed window suggests an inability to effectively communicate and an open window may represent desire for new adventure in life. To see shattered and broken windows, denotes misery and disloyalty.

Floor: Floors are specialized foundations, places allowing you to stand safely, and usually in well-balanced positions. So floors most often symbolize the ground you are standing on, in other words your principles and beliefs. And the different floors of a building frequently represent the level of consciousness you are on in your dream. Floors are great puns. Is you floor falling out from under you? Who or what is now taking the floor? Has something just floored you? Which floor are you on? What covers it? Why? What kind of building would have this type of floor? What does this remind you of?
A floor falling apart is most often a symbol that your old beliefs, ideas, and life are in the process of changing dramatically and that you are feeling understandably insecure about the whole thing at ht time. What kind of building is the floor in? What is it made of? What conditions is it in, other than falling away? What does it remind you of.

Garage: The area related to a feeling of security (vehicle). ~ An issue of repairs and domestic issues seldom dealt with.

Also: Traveling is very common theme in dreams and traveling in a car is the most common. Traveling in a vehicle generally can represent our journey through life -- or a portion of our life's journey. If in your dream you find yourself in a garage or a parking lot, two varying connotations can be made. Please consider the content of your dream, the mood in it, and your current dilemma or situation in life. The parked car could represent a period of inactivity and indecision in your life. The dream could be pointing out that you have been idol for a period of time and that it may be a good time to "get a move on." The more positive interpretation of this dream may be that the parked car is symbolic of a reflective period or mood. You may be in "park" for a while so that you can rest, relax, regroup, and think things over.

Also: To dream that you are in a garage, signifies a period of inactivity and idleness in your life. You may feel that you have no direction or guidance toward achieving your goals. To dream that you are pulling your car into the garage, represents security and stability brought about by your accomplishments and efforts. To dream that you are opening the garage door, denotes that you have made a decision about a matter. You may have decided on the path you will take in reaching your opportunities and goals. On the other hand, if you are closing the garage door, then it suggests that you are putting off your goals for the sake of others around you.

Also: Many people reported having dreams about hospitals and surgery. This appears to be a relatively common dream setting. Most of us are in some need of healing. The healing may be physical, psychological, emotional or spiritual. By paying attention to this dream you may be able to identify the source of your pain, and where and how the healing needs to take place. Think about why you or someone else was in the hospital in the dream. You may ask yourself, "What is going on in the dream? What is the prognosis, and what is the cure?" Answering these questions in light of a situation or issue from your daily life could be very helpful and, at times, enlightening. Therefore, try not to get upset by your dream, but rather pay attention to its message.

Also: If you were the doctor in the hospital, it could be showing you that you have been helping someone out, but if you were a patient, maybe you have some problems in yourself that you need to resolve.
